Quinoa is a protein and fiber rich seed which is used and cooked like a grain. It's wonderful as a side dish or blended with cranberries, soybeans, herbs or dressings to make a cold salad. A scoop of Quinoa on top of any salad will increase it's protein and nutrition content as well as making it more filling. Quinoa has been called "the mother grain" and
"the gold of the Incas" and it has been cultivated in the Andes for
over 5,000 years.
It is important to rinse quinoa before cooking, as this will greatly improve its flavor. Our
quinoa is sproutable.
Tip: Quinoa is pronounced so that it sounds like "keen-wah"
1 cup dry quinoa yields about 3 cups cooked quinoa. To cook 1 cup quinoa, you need about 2 cups
liquid and it takes about 20 minutes.
Also, add about 1/4 teaspoon sea salt to each cup dried quinoa when
cooking.
